Coast2Coast 2010 Report:
We got in Friday night with the threats of Hurricane Earl hitting the East Coast. We did 500 miles the final day and rode for about 12 hours with some breaks in between. Saturday we had a picnic at the Westbrook Elks to welcome us back. The bike will be shipped out this week and gong to the lucky winner. We want to thank everyone that played even the smallest role in helping us complete our Second Annual Coast 2 Coast Awareness Run. Everyone's prayers were answered as we arrived safe.
Master's Ranch was amazing and heartwarming. To realize
the work that TAPS does with these boys followed through
to the point that they are being rehabilitated is amazing.
We spent the entire day at Master's Ranch with Pastor
Dave and his wife Momma T. We were treated to meals,
horse back riding, a football game, and best of all
stories from the boys of Master's Ranch. At the end
of the afternoon, we picked the winner of the 2010
Harley Davidson Electra Glide.
In the morning after departing from Alton , MO, on
our way to Louisville, KY, Mauricio blew a rear tire
and it had to be fixed. People were nice enough to
stop on the side of the road and assist in some roadside
attempts to get the tire inflated. Rosco, of Rosco's
Rocky Road (www.mytb.org/rosco-p), was the first to
stop and lend a hand. He is from New Zealand and currently
traveling the world on a BMW motorcycle. Next we had
Ken come by with a pick-up and offer a tow. The bike
was taken to Brad's Bike Shop where Joe took us right
in and was able to put a used tire on and get us back
on the road quickly.
The rest of the day was spent playing catch-up to try
and make up lost time. We made it to Ferdinand, IN
by 8pm after the time zone change.
Earlier posts:
Pictures to the left are of the folks going
through Arizona and New Mexico. Arizona temps
got up to 117 degrees. Couldn't go more than
30 minutes without stopping for water.
Route 60 from Miami, AZ to Globe, AZ was gorgeous
- winding turns and canyons!
Experienced a dust storm that could be pictured as
a storm of locusts!
Motorcycles holding up well.
Ate at The Big Texan last
night - that's the famous steakhouse where if you
eat the 72oz. steak dinner
in less than an hour it's free. That is where
Frank Pastore, the talk show host and former MLB
pitcher who interviewed Tony, held the world record
for fastest time eating the dinner until Joey Chestnut
beat it in '08.
In Amarillo as
of 9:00pm PST.
On to Oklahoma City where we met up with some Bikers
for Christ members, including elder Dale. They accompanied
us to Tulsa where we had dinner with more BFC members.
Then on to Alton, Missouri. Now at Master's Ranch
in Couch, Missouri, where raffle drawing will take
place at 3pm PST August 31st.
